Suniel Shetty Slams Boycott Trend Says “Can’t Put A Finger On Reason…”

Suniel Shetty has opened up about the continuous boycott trend and why it had an impact on some of the recently released films.

Of late the Bollywood industry is suffering a lot due to the witty boycott trend on social media. Every other film faces the wrath of the cancel culture. The boycott trend has become a fashion in the industry currently. While many celebrities voiced against the activity netizens are pulling over films through social media, actor Suniel Shetty too joined them speaking about it. Suniel Shetty has opened up about the continuous boycott trend and why it had an impact on some of the recently released films.

The latest Bollywood films proved to be cold at the box office following the boycott trend. Recently Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan became a victim of the trend which led to the failure of these movies. Netizens further attacked much-awaited upcoming movies by superstars. The hashtag boycott trend was applicable to Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film Vikram Vedha, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, and the latest Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger too went viral on social media.

Suniel Shetty recently attended an event in Raipur where he answered several questions asked by the media. He was also asked to put his opinion on the ongoing trend in Bollywood which is affecting movies badly. Speaking about it the actor said he can’t put a finger on the reason why this is happening. 

Shetty said,  “We have done a lot of good work too. However, people might not be happy with the type of subjects the films are having these days, and that is why we are going through such a tough time. Hopefully, this will be considered. Initially, it felt like a one-off thing but now we have been continuously seeing that people are not coming to theatres and I can’t put my finger on a reason why and what this is happening.”

This is not the first the 61-year-old actor spoke about it, he had also shared his views at the time of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan release. The Hera Pheri actor called it unfair saying “We are entertainers, and we go by public choice also.”
