Shilpa Shetty Reveals Doctors Advised Her Mother To Abort Her: ‘I Just Feel Like I Am A Survivor’

Shilpa Has Been In Bollywood For Two Decades, Making Her Debut In The 1993 Movie Baazigar

Shilpa Shetty revealed in a recent interview with Zoom Entertainment that during her mother’s pregnancy with her, doctors advised her mother to abort the pregnancy due to complications.

“My mom told me that when I was conceived, she thought she was going to lose me, and the doctors suggested that she should abort the child because she went through a very difficult pregnancy. They thought she was going to have a miscarriage because she was constantly bleeding. I was stillborn. I just feel like I am a survivor.”

She continued, “So, she always believed that I was here for a purpose, and that just makes me feel like films are just a catalyst in my life. I’m here to maybe do something and maybe be a source of inspiration for people who are going through a lot. If you see my social media, I’m constantly putting up messages because we are all having a hard time in life. Not everyone has it easy.”

Shilpa has been in Bollywood for two decades, making her debut in the 1993 movie “Baazigar,” alongside Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. In an Etimes interview, the actress revealed that despite delivering super hit films, she was never ranked among the top 10 actresses.

“I feel there is poetic justice in life, always. I was never among the top 10 actors in the industry. I may have received a lot of love and adulation, but I was never counted among the top 10 actors, maybe due to a lack of opportunities or for reasons I don’t know. Today, look at me; I am working on the biggest series. I have just finished filming a movie. I am also working on a multilingual film. I have nothing to complain about today. We all have our own journeys. I have carved a niche for myself on TV, and my brands are doing well,” she told ETimes.

On the work front, Shilpa will next be seen in the film “Sukhee.”
