Shantanu Maheshwari, who started his acting career with Dil Dosti Dance for Channel V in 2011, made his big Bollywood debut this year. He is seen opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
The actor feels lucky to make his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. He is one of the most respected directors in Bollywood and every actor dreams of working with him at least once in their life. Many actors have revealed in the past that it is not easy to work on SLB’s film sets as he is very strict.
In an interview, Shantanu was asked to share his experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Recalling his first day on set, Shantanu said, “Before starting the shooting, we did rehearsals and script reading. On the last day of rehearsals, an assistant of Sanjay Sir said to me, ‘Tomorrow is your first day on set. Don’t be nervous. Just do as you have been doing during rehearsals.’ Sanjay Sir overheard it and said, ‘Why would he be nervous? He will do good.’ And he just went away after saying this. So, his confidence in me boosted my morale. When I reached on set on the first day, I had a different kind of energy. Yes, there’s always nervousness because he is a big director and you want to match up to his expectations. The atmosphere of rehearsals is different from what it is on set. When you are on set, there’s a kind of pressure. So, yes there is nervousness but I think it is important for any kind of performance, be it dance or acting.”
“And it is human nature also. I think we should accept being nervous,” he added.
Shantanu is a popular face on Television. He has participated in Box Cricket League, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9, Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, Nach Baliye 9, World Of Dance 2 and several other reality shows. He is a professional dancer, choreographer and host.
