Dancer turned actor Shantanu Maheshwari is currently the talk of the town for his performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has marked his grand Bollywood debut.
In the film, Shantanu can be seen having romantic chemistry with Alia Bhatt. When asked to comment on the same, he said, “Most of my scenes are with Alia. It was fun working with her. She has a friendly nature. She is very down to earth. I have said many times that she is very collaborative. She gives other actors their space and never tries to overshadow them. She goes with the flow and she makes sure that she doesn’t carry the aura of being ‘The Alia Bhatt’.
He further added, “When I first saw her in that saree, I didn’t feel that she is Alia Bhatt. It felt so natural that she is Gangubai. Because she was so effortless in playing that character. It was too much fun working with her. I also got to learn a lot from her.”
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was released in theatres on Feb 25.
