Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have always made a hit pair. Right from Deepika’s debut film Om Shanti Om to the latest release Jawan, this fabulous jodi has always created wonders at the box office. This year, Shah Rukh and Deepika together have owned the Indian box office. With the historic success of Pathaan and now with Jawan, they have turned out to be the biggest and most bankable jodi in today’s time. In Pathaan, Deepika made headlines for her sensuous avatar in Besharam Rang song.
In a recent press conference, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he wondered if Deepika could play a mother’s role in Jawan while looking at her shooting for Besharam Rang. SRK said, “So, Deepika was doing Besharam Rang and I am sitting. I will not lie. I look at Pooja and I say, ‘Ye maa ka role karegi?’ So, I am looking at Deepika doing Besharam Rang and thinking she’ll look good as a mother! So, she said, ‘Shah, she loves you too much. Of course, she will do. Let me ask her. And let me tell you, Pooja went to her for just 2 seconds and came back. Deepika was like, ‘Yeah, I whenever you say. Just tell Atlee Sir. I’ll come and do it’.”
Shah Rukh Khan added, “It’s very large-hearted of her. I know we are too close to each other. We love each other like family. But even then, sometimes work and profession comes into your head and heart. With this film, Deepika has proved to everybody that she is really a large-size actor.”
Shah Rukh also told how he and Atlee fooled her into doing a full-fledged role in Jawan though they told her that it was just a cameo. He said at the press meet, “She felt that she was doing a small role out of friendship. But me and Atlee fooled her and shot a full-length film with her. She didn’t even realize. When she saw the film, she was like, ‘Oh! I am one of the main characters!’ So she is most awkward sitting here. But thank you, Deepika, from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this film.”
