IIFA 2022: Bollywood actor Salman Khan recently hosted the IIFA night. The actor grabbed the attention of many as he got emotional and teared up as he called his days of struggle in the industry.
Salman Khan Gets Teary-Eyed At IIFA 2022
During the star-studded night in Abu Dhabi during the IIFA awards, Bollywood actor Salman Khan recalled his past and got teary-eyed. Salman revealed that he had no work after his hit film Maine Pyar Kiya, as his co-star Bhagyashree allegedly took all the credit for it. He also credited filmmaker Ramesh Taurani for saving his career.
For the unversed, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) was Salman Khan’s debut film in Bollywood in a lead with Bhagyashree who also marked her debut with the film. The Sooraj Barjatya directorial became one of the highest-grossing Indian films at the time. Although, Bhagyashree soon announced that she is quitting the industry after just one film to marry Himalaya Dassani.
While the actor recalled his memories from the time during the award function, the actor said “After Maine Pyar Kiya released, Bhagyashree decided she didn’t want to work anymore, because she wanted to get married. Aur wo pura credit leke chali gayi. For six months, I had no movie. And that’s when a ‘devta saman aadmi’, Ramesh Taurani, entered my life. My father at that point of time paid 2000 rupees and coaxed producer GP Sippy to make a fake announcement in a film industry magazine that he had signed me for a film. GP did that but there was no picture. But Ramesh Taurani went to Sippy’s office and paid ₹5 lakh for the music of the film. It was because of those 5 lakhs that I finally got a film called Patthar Ke Phool. Thank you!”
Salman Recalled Suneil Shetty Gifting Him Shirt
Remembering his struggling time in the industry when the actor wasn’t financially backed-up, the actor shared during the IIFA in his emotional speech saying, “There was a time when I didn’t have a lot of money. I only had enough to be able to buy one shirt and jeans. During that time, a new fashion trend had come about and that was stone-washed jeans. I was out shopping and at a very popular store, I saw stone-washed denim jeans and a shirt. I only had money enough to buy the jeans and I left the shirt alone. Suniel Shetty, who was with me in the store, noticed that I didn’t have money to buy it, so he bought the shirt and gifted it to me.”
On the work front, Salman will once again be seen in the film ‘Tiger 3’ with Katrina Kaif. The film will release by next year. Apart from this, the actor had recently shared his photo from the sets of ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’ and revealed his look in the film. Apart from this, she is very busy with ‘No Entry 2’ and ‘Kick 2’.
