Saif Ali Khan Doesn’t Agree With His Character In Vikram Vedha

Saif Ali Khan explained how he is different from his character in Vikram Vedha

Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Vikram Vedha. The action thriller is one of the much-awaited films of the year. In the action flick, Saif Ali Khan plays Vikram, who is an encounter specialist while his co-star Hrithik Roshan plays Vedha who is a gangster. Ahead of the release, he spoke about the movie and how he is different from his character in real life.

The Pataudi son says he is a left-leaning person with liberal views and he is easy going while his character is totally different as he loves to execute suspected criminals. He also doesn’t agree with the thoughts and principles of his character in Vikram Vedha.

In an interview with Biz Asia, Saif spoke about an encounter specialist, “When the mafia problem was getting so out of control, there was this urban legend that we won’t show whether the ‘criminal’ was shot genuinely trying to escape, or executed, and later on, they do the paperwork to show that he was trying to escape and we had to shoot him. That’s called an ‘encounter’, a ‘fake encounter’. It’s kind of a horrific judicial… I’m sure it’s completely illegal. But it’s cinematically quite disturbing as well, and that’s kind of what my character does. But he’s convinced he’s a good guy, because (he thinks) it’s required.”

Said further explained how he is different from his character in Vikram Vedha. He said, “I’m much more… probably a bit left-wing, I suppose… I don’t know, I probably shouldn’t say these things anymore today. But yes, I’m really liberal and easygoing, and I think everyone is entitled to a fair trial before judgement. I’m certainly not for executing suspected criminals, which my character seems to love to do,”

Vikram Vedha is a Hindi remake of the Tamil movie of the same name. The original film featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupati in the lead role. The 2017 film was directed by duo Pushkar Gayatri who is again directing the Hindi version. The lead cast, R Madhavan who played Vikram is replaced by Saif Ali Khan whereas Hrithik Roshan superseded Vijay Sethupathi as Vedha.

Along with Hrithik and Saif,  Vikram Vedha also stars Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, Satyadeep Misra, and Sharib Hashmi. Helmed by the duo Pushkar-Gayatri the action crime film is produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra, Bhushan Kumar, S. Sashikanth, and Vivek Agrawal. The film will end the wait on September 30, 2022, releasing on big screens.
