Producer Suneel Darshan Claims Sunny Deol Owes Him Rs 1.77 Crore And Has Not Repaid

According To Suneel, The Association Began During The Filming Of "Ajay," Where The "Ghayal" Actor Expressed Interest In Securing International Distribution Rights

Producer Suneel Darshan has allegedly accused actor Sunny Deol, known for his role in “Gadar 2,” of failing to return his money. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, the filmmaker revealed that Sunny had borrowed funds from him to start a company.

According to Suneel, the association began during the filming of “Ajay,” where the “Ghayal” actor expressed interest in securing international distribution rights for the film and establishing an overseas distribution company. After convincing him to acquire the necessary funds from London, Sunny reportedly obtained certain documents from Suneel. He pledged to reimburse the amount once he obtained the film prints. However, Suneel accused Sunny of repeatedly ignoring appeals for payment. Sunny purportedly reached out from various cities such as Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai, citing personal issues as reasons for non-payment.

“Subsequently, he sought my assistance in producing a film he was working on. He assured me that he would collaborate on a project with me and offset the dues from my payment after completing the film. Having already collaborated on two films with Sunny, I trusted him. Unfortunately, the film was neither completed, nor compensated. I pursued Sunny Deol for four years, during which he experienced both hits and flops. Hence, I took legal recourse,” Suneel conveyed to the Hindi daily.

He continued, “In court, Sunny claimed financial inability to settle the dues and proposed collaborating on a film. However, he would subsequently request script modifications or plead lack of availability, thus delaying or failing to finish the film. In essence, he never intended to repay the amount owed. Nearly 27 years have passed, and I’m still entangled in the court case. I made earnest efforts for an out-of-court settlement, but it proved fruitless. This individual is even disregarding the court’s decision. The established sum he owes is Rs 1.77 crore. While Sunny has amassed considerable property, he has neglected to return others’ money. I trust in the legal system and anticipate reclaiming my dues.”

Meanwhile, Sunny is enjoying the success of “Gadar 2”, as the film continues to achieve remarkable box office figures.
