Prateik Babbar Gets Vulnerable On Late Mother Smita Patil’s Birth Anniversary

Prateik Babbar to celebrate late mother Smita Patil’s birth anniversary by cutting a cake and visiting NGO to feed strays

Smita Patil was a gem to the Indian Cinema but left us too soon. The legendary actor would have been 67 today on her birth anniversary. Her son Prateik Babbar remembers his late mother as he gets vulnerable. To celebrate the day he will cut the cake with paparazzi and would later visit NGO that feeds strays.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Prateik got emotional talking about how close the day is to him. He said, “It is an extremely vulnerable day for me… her birthday and her death anniversary, are two extremely vulnerable days for me. (However) I feel extremely blessed and humbled with all the wishes that pour in. Mostly, I’m in my own thoughts, I think about her all day and I feel lost, but there’s always lots of love.”

The actor also revealed how he will be celebrating the birth anniversary of his mother Smita Patil. The late actress would have been 67 today if alive. He added, “I want to get their (paparazzi) blessings. She was always loved and I want to carry forward that emotion. No one can forget who Smita Patil is. Recently at Mr. Bachchan’s birthday, there were screenings of his films. Aaj Rapat Jaiyo (a song featuring actor Amitabh Bachchan and Patil), got the most whistles and applause. So many people shared the videos from the theatre.”

For the unversed, Smita Patil was a theater and films actress winning National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards for her brilliant work. She was also a recipient of the Padma Shri Award. She married actor Raj Babbar and passed away at the young age of 31 due to childbirth complications. In a short span of her career, she appeared in over 80 films across 6 languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, and Kannada. Her notable work includes Manthan, Namak Halaal, Bhumika, and Aakrosh among others. 

Prateik Babbar made Bollywood debut in 2008 film ‘Jaane Tu… Yaa Jaane Na’. Last he was seen in Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon starrer Bachchhan Paandey. He will next feature in the third season of Amazon Originals Four More Shorts Please. The acclaimed series will release on 21st October 2022.
