After a 4 year long hiatus from Bollywood, superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his smashing comeback in 2023 with Siddharth Anand’s film, Pathaan. Starring Shah Rukh, Deepika, and John Abraham in the lead roles, Pathaan was one of the biggest box office successes of 2023. As per the latest reports, Pathaan will be having a sequel. Yes, you read that right the SRK starrer will be having a sequel and SRK will be reprising his role as Pathaan in the sequel.
Pathaan 2 Confirmed
According to reports, Aditya Chopra has been personally involved in crafting the script with his team, preparing Pathaan 2 to serve as a foundation for larger conflicts that could lead to additional spy films under the YRF banner.
A source informed Pinkvilla that Shah Rukh and Aditya have finalized the script for Pathaan 2. The events in Pathaan 2 are rumored to occur before the timeline depicted in Tiger vs Pathaan. The film is expected to lay the groundwork for the anticipated clash between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Tiger vs Pathaan.
A source told the portal, “Pathaan 2 will predate Tiger vs Pathaan and will set up the clash of two cinematic legends on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan is definitely a character that has resonated with the audiences, and there is a constant on-ground demand from the audience to see more of SRK in the spy avatar. Soon after the release in January 2023, Adi and SRK decided to spin Pathaan into a standalone franchise too within the Spy Universe and the former started ideating the sequel of this all-time blockbuster,”
The source added, “Pathaan 2 is being designed as the tentpole spy film of the universe that will set things up for bigger conflict in the times to come. It will set up the next phase of YRF Spy Universe’s timeline. In fact, P2 sets things up for the big battle between Tiger and Pathaan (Tiger vs Pathaan) in the future timeline”.
Apart from Pathaan 2, SRK will also star alongside Salman Khan in “Tiger Vs Pathaan”. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.
