Pankaj Tripathi Reacts To Boycott Trend And Failure Of Movies, Says Self-Assessment Is Needed

Bollywood’s ace actor Pankaj Tripathi too spoke on the boycott trend and its impact on films

The Hindi film industry is under unanticipated blow with consecutive films getting flop at the box office. Netizens are targeting every film calling for a boycott and this cancel culture trend has been impacting films badly. Many film fraternity people including actors and directors have given their thoughts on this ongoing trend. Bollywood’s ace actor Pankaj Tripathi too spoke on the boycott trend and its impact on films.

A number of movies even big tickets are not performing well at the box office. The boycott trend has been blamed for the poor result, while few asserted bad content is not helping the films. Pankaj Tripathi thinks if a film is bad, it doesn’t work, Self-assessment is needed. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, the Mirzapur actor highlighted the reason behind the failure of films.

Speaking about the boycott trend Pankaj Tripathi said, “Self-assessment is needed about what we are making and how we are making it—that’s necessary and that’s what is lacking. If a film is bad, it doesn’t work, and doesn’t get boycotted. People don’t go to the cinema halls. That’s also a boycott then, isn’t it? There is no social media campaign then, and no hashtag but the film still doesn’t work. But yes self-assessment is needed.”

The actor spoke about his film 83 which too didn’t perform well at the box office. He said, “Nahin nahin, afsos nahin hota, maine paise thodi lagaya hai film mein (No, no, I’m not upset, I haven’t invested anything in the film.)” He added that he has just invested talent. “I did what I had to do, with full sincerity and what happens after that, is not in my hands.”

Pankaj Tripathi is basking praises for the third season of his popular web show Criminal Justice. The actor continued to wear his lawyer’s coat in Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach, which is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. He will be next seen in Oh My God 2 and Fukrey 3.
