There are many actors in the Bollywood industry who have made their image as OTT actors. Though they portray many different roles, their prominent work is for series and movies on OTT platforms. Sumit Vyas, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi, Maanvi Gagroo are some of the well-known OTT actors and one more name that always pops up when we talk about OTT is Sharib Hashmi. In the last 4 years, he has worked efficiently to make himself visible in the industry. This Family Man actor started with Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” but the film couldn’t show much in return for this actor.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan was indeed a big debut for this actor, where he played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s close friend, Zain. He felt that Zain would give him a lot of recognition as it was made under the banner of Yash Raj Film, a big name in the industry. So, ultimately, he would have gotten new work. But nothing happened in the way he had thought. He said, “When the film was released, I felt that I would get a lot of work after a big movie, but I had no clue that I would have to give interviews and meet people. After doing that film, I received a lot of appreciation, but it didn’t transform into more work. People thought that I was Pakistani.”
But it was the movie “Filmistaan” which gave him popularity as well as appreciation for his work. In Filmistaan, he played the lead role of Sunny. That film became a turning point in his life and he started getting more work after Filmistaan. Again, his career path kept fluctuating. He said that his many movies stopped their production suddenly half a way, some didn’t get a distributor. But “Family Man” was a golden opportunity for him. In the series “Family Man”, he played the character of Manoj Bajpayee’s friend and Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell officer. Later on, he worked in many OTT series like, “Asur”, “Scam 1992”, “The Ghost Of Gandhi”, OTT movie “Tarla” etc.
