Neil Nitin Mukesh Slams Bollywood For Remakes Over Original Content

Neil Nitin Mukesh criticized Bollywood for remaking films instead focusing on original content

Neil Nitin Mukesh has created a name for himself with his skilled acting and acclaiming work. He entered Bollywood debuting in Sriram Raghavan’s 2007 film Johnny Gaddar. Critics lauded his work in the first film, later he was featured in a few more thriller movies. The New York actor criticized Bollywood for remaking films instead focusing on original content.

Looking at Neil’s filmography he has appeared in Jail, 7 Khoon Maaf, New York, Players, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The handsome hunk has been a preferred pick for thriller genre movies in the early days of his career. He played dark roles in films like sci-fi thriller Aa Dekhen Zara, Jail by Madhur Bhandarkar, and Tera Kya Hoga Johnny by Sudhir Mishra. Neil who has done quite a thriller movies questioned filmmakers for not exploring various genres or sub-genres rather than remaking movies. 

He said: “There are various sub-genres, like psychological thrillers, political thrillers, horror thrillers and so on. Why aren’t we exploring those? We are still remaking films instead of coming up with original ideas and content. In Bollywood, we have original ideas, but I feel that we prefer to play it safe.”

Neil received major success from New York in 2009. He believes actors must balance their work by doing all kinds of work as he spoke on how an actor’s worth is solely determined by commercial success. “I believe that in showbiz, I have to be a little sensible and strike a balance. The truth is that, not just in our industry, but among the audience as well, the general perception of an actor is based on his commercial success. While I love being a part of a film like Jail, I will also do entertainers like Players and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,” Neil said.

Neil Nitin Mukesh last did Bypass road which wasn’t a commercial success, later he appeared in a supportive role in Saaho starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor. His upcoming movie is Ankush Bhatt’s delayed film ‘Firrkie’ starring Kay Kay Menon and Jackie Shroff in lead roles.
