Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor were a well-known and beloved couple in the Indian film industry. Their love story and marriage were often considered one of the most enduring and charming in Bollywood. The two first met on the sets of the film Zehrila Insaan in the early 1970s, but they didn’t immediately fall in love. It was during the filming of “Kabhie Kabhie” in 1976 that they developed a close friendship, which eventually blossomed into love. They got married on January 22, 1980, in a private ceremony attended by family and close friends. They had two children, a son named Ranbir Kapoor and a daughter named Riddhima Kapoor Sahani. Throughout their marriage, Neetu and Rishi Kapoor faced their share of challenges and ups and downs, but they remained committed to each other.
Once Neetu Kapoor revealed that her first meeting with Rishi Kapoor was terrible in an interview with Annu Kapoor on his radio show ‘Suhaana Safar.’ Recalling the incident, Neetu said that the actor was a brat who used to bully everyone on the sets.
She qouted, “I had a horrible first meeting with Rishi Kapoor. He had a habit of bullying, so he would comment on my make-up and clothes, and I’d feel so angry. He was actually a brat who would bully everyone and I was very young at that time.”
She further added, “I used to be furious with him. After Bobby became a superhit, Dimple Kapadia got married and Rishi was left with no other heroine because everyone used to look older than him. I was the only young actress around and by default, after Rickshawala, all his movies started coming to me.”
Tragically, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on April 30, 2020. His death was a shock to the film industry and his fans. Neetu Kapoor and the entire Kapoor family mourned his loss deeply.
