Nagarjuna Says Bollywood Should Stop Remaking Films

Nagarjuna is against remakes as he advised Bollywood to stop remaking movies

Bollywood has been remaking films forever. Many films from the south were and are picked for a remake in Hindi. Namely, Drishyam, Kabir Singh, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Baaghi, Singham, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa are a few remakes that have made it big in Bollywood. South superstar Nagarjuna has shared his thoughts on remakes in the Hindi film industry.

The Telugu actor who has completed almost 35 years in Indian Cinema feels remakes should not be made. He clearly stated that Bollywood should stop remaking films everybody sees movies and comparisons happen. This is true there ample of movies that have been recreated and got a backlash of comparison with the original.

Talking about remakes being made in Bollywood the 63 years old actor said, “They should stop remaking films. Everybody is seeing all the films on OTT. They should stop, I am telling you. Everybody sees it, comparisons happen. They should stop remaking films. I personally wouldn’t want to do remakes.”

He further added, “Now the thing is they are all reaching pan India, if not theatrical. Everything is being released. First, all my films are dubbed in Hindi, and they get a huge market for me. All my films. Especially action films all get dubbed, and then they come on OTT. People are watching them all over the world. I go to Dubai or someplace, the Arabs recognise me. They wouldn’t even know the name. They will say, ‘We saw that film’.”

For the unversed his son Naga Chaitanya too appeared in a remake film. He made his Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. The film is a Hindi remake of the Hollywood movie Forrest Gump. LSC didn’t perform well at the box office and one of the reasons was not making it to the level of the original. 

Here is a list of recently released and upcoming Bollywood movies that are remake of South Indian movies. Janhvi Kapoor starrer Good Luck Jerry was a remake of Kolamaavu Kokila of Nayanthara. HIT: The First Case is a remake of a Telugu movie in the same name. Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Bholla is Hindi adaptation of Kaithi. Vikarm Vedha by Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan is again a remake of the Telugu film in the same name. Other upcoming South Indian remake Bollywood movies are including, Shehzada, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Selfiee, Drishyam 2, and more.
