‘Shabaash Mithu’ Star Taapsee Pannu Pays An Ode To Mithali Raj On Her Retirement

Taapsee Pannu penned a special note for Mithali Raj who announced her retirement from cricket in all forms.

Taapsee Pannu has made her mark in Bollywood with her brilliant acting skills. She is known for self-driven films after Kangana Ranaut. Popularly she has accomplished heroine-centric films like Rashmi Rocket, Game Over, Thappad, Badla, and Pink among others. Next in her kitty is “Shabaash Mithu” a biopic movie on Indian female cricketer Mithali Raj. Taapsee Pannu penned a special note for Mithali Raj who announced her retirement from cricket in all forms.

Lately, the Mulk actress has been in close connection with Mithali as she will be playing the character of the Indian female cricket team captain. Raj is one of the greatest female cricketers representing India in 12 Tests and 89 T20 Internationals. She ended her grandiose career with a record 7805 runs in 232 ODIs. The 39-year-old was appreciated by her on-screen character, who is fortunate to portray the cricketer and her 23 years of glorious career.

The brilliant wrote: “There are cricketers who have records under their name. There are cricketers who have tremendous fan following. There are cricketers who inspire you and make you believe that if they can so can you! And then there’s Mithali who did all of this in her classic graceful style and also changed the game of cricket where the presence of women is concerned.” 

Taapsee, who will be seen playing the role of Mithali Raj in ‘Shabaash Mithu’ added: “Not just in our country but she will be remembered for her contribution to women’s cricket across the globe. I just got too fortunate as a fan who got to live her glorious journey of 23 years for a bit on camera which taught me so much about resilience and perseverance. She is truly a legend we can never thank enough.”

The ‘Naam Shabana’ actress also took to her social media and noted Raj’s achievement in the caption sharing a smiling picture of both. Further she added: “Some personalities and their achievements are gender agnostic. You changed the game, now it’s our turn to change the perspective! Etched in history OUR CAPTAIN forever”  Tagging @mithaliraj “On to the next innings of life” Taapsee concluded with a red heart emoji

‘Shabaash Mithu’ is directed by Srijit Mukherji and written by Priya Aven. It is the story of an ace cricketer Mithali Raj, expected to release in July.
