Recently, her old interview has gone viral on social media, where she can be heard saying the banned ‘n-word’.
In the old video posted on Twitter Kareena can be seen discussing colorism in India with Masaba Gupta on What Women Want. In the short clip where Masaba talks about facing colorism, body shaming, and online trolling, she can be heard saying, “But you know, with me, the thing is that anything to do with black people… you know you get called negro, which by the way is now a word that is banned in most places.”
Kareena responded to Masaba’s statement by casually using the n-word while pointing out that even that is now banned. Despite being aware of the word’s restriction and the reasons for it, the actress’s casual use of it infuriated online users. Many people who commented on the post pointed out that Masaba may use the phrase since her father is African but Kareena cannot because she is Indian.
