Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor was recently seen alongside Alia Bhatt on the chat show Koffee With Karan 8. In a recent promo, show host Karan Johar was seen recalling some past feuds and controversies related to actress Kareena Kapoor. Talking about the Gadar 2 success party the filmmaker asked Kareena why she didn’t attend the event. He further went ahead and asked Kareena if it was because of her previous feud with actress Ameesha Patel.
The question grabbed the attention of many netizens, and while many are aware, the controversy is still not known to many. For the unversed, the infamous feud between Kareena and Ameesha dates back to the early 2000s. It all started during the casting of the film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.
Apparently, Kareena Kapoor was ousted from the project just 3 days ahead of the shooting, and the actress was replaced by no one other than the Gadar 2 actress Ameesha Patel. The makers went ahead with Ameesha on board alongside Hrithik Roshan and delivered the massive success of that time, “Kaho Na Pyaar Hai”.
Why Was Kareena Ousted From Kaho Na Pyaar Hai?
Reportedly, the film’s director, Rakesh Roshan had to drop the idea of casting Kareena from the project because of the constant interference of the actress’s mother Babita Kapoor. Kareena who made her debut with the film, Refugee was initially expected to make her debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.
In an interview, Rakesh Roshan previously revealed that they were supposed to scene a song first however Kareena’s mother Babita insisted that Kareena shoot some scenes and deliver some dialogue before shooting for the song. Due to the risk of her interference, Rakesh Roshan decided to oust Kareena from the film.
And for his son Hrithik’s debut film, Rakesh Roshan then selected Ameesha Patel as the lead female. Reportedly the filmmaker found Ameesha during a wedding and made the decision to make her the lead actress in the film. During the Gadar 2 promotions, Ameesha Patel revealed that Rakesh Roshan was extremely happy with her participation in the film he even called her a “blessing in disguise” post the controversy with Kareena.

On the other hand, back in the day, Kareena said that she was glad for not doing the film. Talking to Filmfare Kareena said that the whole screentime and focus was given solely on Hrithik who was going to make his debut with the film. Kareena also claimed that Ameesha did not look beautiful in the film and even had pimples and under-eye bags in a few portions.
