When Aishwarya Said That Salman Was Gonna Play Her Brother’s Role

Mansoor did ask her whether she was confirmed about doing this film, as the cast kept changing. But Aishwarya said that she was committed to this film and for her there was no going back.

‘Josh’, a commercially successful movie released in 2000, starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chandrachur Singh. In this movie, Shah Rukh and Aishwarya played the role of siblings. Though before this, Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan played the lead couple characters in ‘Devdas’ and ‘Mohabbatein’, their roles in Josh gained immense love from the audience. But later, Aishwarya revealed the cast of this movie in an old interview with Bollywood Hungama.

When she was asked if she had any apprehensions about playing SRK’s sister’s role, she denied it, saying, “When Mansoor asked me for this film, I said yes. When we first started, the cast were Amir Khan and Salman Khan. Later, it was changed to Shah Rukh and Amir and ended up with Shah Rukh and Chandrachur. But my character Shirley didn’t change.”

Mansoor did ask her whether she was confirmed about doing this film, as the cast kept changing. But Aishwarya said that she was committed to this film and for her there was no going back.  In the period when there were lots of untold things going between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Roy, it would be really fascinating to see Salman and Aishwarya as siblings on screen.

Though the story has a very typical base where a sister falls in love with the younger brother of her brother’s rival. But the location-wise touch to the film, its youthfulness and  the music made it a commercial success. There are a total of 8 songs in the movie and all of them are amazing. People loved all the songs as well. This movie collected over 35.06 crore at the worldwide box office. And it is also said that Aishwarya’s Shirley character was offered to Kajol before her.
