Kangana Ranaut To Play Chandramukhi In Her Next Tamil Film A Sequel To Rajinikanth’s 2005 Iconic Blockbuster

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is set to play the lead role in Chandramukhi 2 a sequel to Rajinikanth and Jyothika starrer

Kangana Ranaut is busy filming for her next directorial titled Emergency. The actress has announced her next grand project which is said to be a sequel to the Rajinikanth starrer. The Padmashri and four times National Award-winning actor is all set to play Chandramukhi in her second Tamil film. 

Yes, you got that right, Chandramukhi 2 is on cards and Kangana will play the lead role. In the sequel of Rajinikanth’s 2005 blockbuster film Chandramukhi, the actress will be seen playing the role of the graceful dancer. The prominent character is a world-renowned dancer in the King’s court who’s known for her dancing skills and breathtaking beauty.

Kangana Ranaut has signed the dotted lines of the sequel of the iconic film Chandramukhi. Tamil actor Raghava Lawrence is said to play the male lead role in the film helmed by P. Vasu. The film will go on floors next month after the Dhakad actor will take a break from the Emergency shooting. 

According to a source close to the development, “Kangana will start shootings the first schedule of the film in the first week of December. The actress will be taking a small break from Emergency and the second schedule of Chandramukhi 2 will commence in January after Emergency wraps.”

The source further added, “Kangana is thrilled to do her next Tamil film after huge acceptance for Thalaivii and looking forward to this very cinematic character.” Chandramukhi 2 will be Kangana Ranaut’s second Tamil film. First was Thalaivii in which she essayed the role of actress-politician J. Jayalalithaa. 

The 2005 film Chandramukhi was a horror comedy Tamil film starring Rajinikanth and Jyothika Saravanan. It was a remake of the Kannada film Apthamitra (2004), which itself was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. For the unversed, Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a Hindi take on the Tamil film Chandramukhi. The character Monjolika played by Balan was designed around Chandramukhi.
