Junior Mehmood Passes Away At 67, After His Long Battle With Cancer

Bollywood veteran Junior Mehmood passed away at the age of 67 on Tuesday, 8 December, after his long battle with cancer.

After a hard and long battle with cancer, Bollywood veteran Junior Mehmood passed away on 8th December 2023. After suffering from 4th stage stomach cancer for a long time the actor left this world leaving behind his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson.

Junior Mehmood’s friend Salam Kazi confirmed the news of his death to Etimes. Reportedly, Junior Mehmood’s funeral will be held at around 12 PM. The funeral will take place at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West, where his mother was also buried.

Apart from his friend Salam Kazi, Mehmood’s family also released a statement on the actor’s death to IndianExpress, the statement read, “Junior Mehmood passed away at 2:15 am at his residence. He was suffering from stomach cancer. May his eternal soul rest in peace.”

Talking about his health and battle with cancer, previously Junior Mehmood’s friend Salam Kazi told ANI, that the late actor was ill for about 2 months. He revealed that initially, everyone thought that he only had some minor problem however suddenly his weight started decreasing soon after they got him a medical checkup which revealed that there was 4th stage cancer in his liver and lungs, and also a tumor in his intestine.

Junior Mehmood, also known by his birth name Naeem Sayyed, was a Bollywood veteran who started his journey in the film industry as a child artist with Mohabbat Zindagi Hai (1966) and Naunihal (1967). He was popularly known for his work in films like Haathi Mere Saathi, Caravan, Mera Naam Joker, and others.
