On World Mental Health Day, Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan opened up about her mental health. Taking to her social media, Ira shared a video spilling the beans on her struggle with depression and the cause of it. In the video, she also speaks about questions on her privilege. Ira Khan also speaks about her parents Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s divorce.
In her recent video, Ira Khan opens about her privilege of being Aamir Khan’s daughter and still dealing with clinical depression.
Ira says that she never spoke to anyone about anything because she assumed that her privilege meant she should handle things on her own. She further adds that she thought her feelings were not something she should bother anyone else with.
The budding filmmaker also says, “What would anyone do? I had everything. What would anyone say? I had said it all.”
Speaking of her parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s divorce, Ira says that it didn’t traumatize her.
Explaining herself she says, “When I was small, my parents got divorced. But that didn’t seem like something that would traumatize me because of parents’ divorce was amicable. They are friends, the whole family is still friends. We are not a broken family by any means.”
For the unknown, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta were married for 16 years before parting their ways in the year 2002. The reason behind their split isn’t known but some speculate that it was Aamir’s secret love for Kiran Rao (his current wife) that paved the way to his divorce with Reena.
Aamir Khan has 2 kids with Reena Dutta- daughter Ira Khan and son Junaid Khan. Even after the separation, both the families remain close. They often celebrate many occasions together as a family.
