Farhan Akhtar treated his fans with a cameo in the MCU Marvel series. He played a short role in Ms Marvel which is an OTT series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Taking about the series he said that what actors in superhero movies have been doing, the Hindi film industry sectors have been doing the same thing — that too a long time. “Our heroes have been beating up an array of bad guys and sending them flying in the air since time immemorial,” pointed out Farhan.
Farhan is a writer, producer, and actor known for movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Dil Dhadakne Do and Rock On amongst others. He was recently in a conversation with The Russo Brothers, who were in Mumbai to promote their action film for Netflix, The Gray Man. The filmmaker opined that the industry as a whole needs to pull up its socks while Hindi films may not have big budgets to compete with Hollywood content.
He said: “We as India’s film fraternity may not have huge spending power on VFX or budgets like the films in the west, but we need to up our game as the audience now has access to content from all over the world.” In collaboration with childhood friend Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan runs production company Excel Entertainment.
Meanwhile, Russo Brothers after joining hands with South star Dhanush are in talks with Excel Entertainment owners. According to reports after the Netflix movie The Gray Man premiere and press conference in Mumbai, Joe and Anthony Russo met with Farhan and Ritesh.
As reported by IANS, during a press conference in Mumbai the Russo Brothers confirmed that they had a discussion with Excel Entertainment. Anthony Russo said: “We love what the two gentlemen (Farhan and Ritesh) have been doing with content in India, they have a brilliant knack for telling disruptive stories. Although such things take time to materialise we are definitely talking with them with regards to developing something. At this moment, I can only say that it’s an exchange of ideas at this stage.”
