Arjun Kapoor & Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat lands in trouble at Jaipur

It is reported that the multiplexes in Jaipur have stopped screening Arjun Kapoor & Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat due to the growing resentment of the people and the protest against the film.

Panipat, Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical period drama is seen receiving some serious backlash from the people of Rajasthan. The politicians, state ministers and Jat ministers have asked for the Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Sanjay Dutt starrer to be banned. Recently, even locals were seen burning effigies of the filmmaker and hence the multiplexes in Jaipur have decided to stop screening the film. And the profound criticism and protest by the people, have affected the Box Office numbers due to which the film is in trouble.

It is reported that the locals are furious about the alleged wrong portrayal of Bharatpur’s Maharaja Surajmal in the movie and have hence taken violent measures in order to oppose the makers. The management at the cinema halls has also revealed that the shows were being cancelled due to the growing resentment and protest against Panipat. Big multiplexes such as Raj Mandir, Cinepolis and Inox in Jaipur has also stopped screening the film.

The film Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat which depicts the clash between the Marathas and Afghan king Ahmad Shah Abdali. This battle dates back to 1761 where he two conflicting enemies fought for the land of Panipat. The film shows the gory battle between the two through the lens of Ashutosh Gowariker. Panipat was released on December 5, pan India.
