It seems Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik is unconcerned about the popular group BTS. For the unaware, in 2022, she beat the South Korean boy band BLACKPINK and Taylor Swift on YouTube to become the most internationally watched artist on YouTube, with a staggering 15.3 billion streams and an average of 42 million streams daily, as recognised by the Guinness World Record.
Alka Yagnik told Radio Nasha that she was unaware of the statistics and figures because she did not fully comprehend the gravity of the situation. According to Yagnik, it was her daughter who explained what it meant. Her daughter, Saysha Kapoor, was shocked at how significant it was that her mother had beaten the well-known K-pop group. However, the singer had no idea who BTS was. “I asked Syesha, ‘Who is BTS?” said Alka. Her daughter, she said, laughed heartily at her question. “She was rolling her eyes at the phone. “Mom, you’re just too much,” Alka added.
She informed her mother of her meteoric rise in her digital presence, to which the singer replied, “Good, good, great.” Yagnik went on to say that her daughter was taken aback by her calm response.
During the interview, Alka revealed that she doesn’t care about the numbers as long as her fans are satisfied with her work. She stated, “People who are listening, they’re happy, they’re loving me, they like me, and they’ve accepted me with open arms for so many years. Mere liye jyada stream ho raha hai, kam stream ho raha hai, it doesn’t matter how many streams I’ve gained, whether more or less doesn’t matter). That, in and of itself, is significant to me.”
She added, “Ye to numbers hai, abhi ye number 1 hai, abhi ye number 2 hojaayega, abhi ye number 3 hai, abhi ye number 4 hai, ab, these are only figures.” “I was happy. But when she made me realise the magnitude of the whole thing, I was very happy. I was very grateful to God. I really feel blessed,” she further added.
