Akshay Kumar Reacts On Being Labelled “Modi Bhakt”

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar reacts to the criticism for allegedly making films that favor BJP.

For the last many years, actor Akshay Kumar has been making headlines not just for his acting prowess but also for allegations that his recent films subtly support the ruling government’s initiatives. However, the star of the silver screen has come forward to clear the air and set the record straight.

In a recent interview with Times Now, Akshay Kumar vehemently denied any political affiliations through his film projects. Instead, he emphasized his dedication to addressing socially relevant and humanitarian issues, marking a significant shift from the action-packed and comedic roles he portrayed in the 1990s and 2000s.

Critics have accused films like “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” and “Mission Mangal” of promoting the government’s Swachh Bharat and Mars Mission projects, both closely associated with the ruling BJP party. However, Akshay Kumar, in his interview, reminded everyone of the diverse range of movies he has brought to life on the big screen.

Akshay said, “Lots of time people say that they promoted Swachh Bharat Mission and I made Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. They had a Mars Mission and I made Mission Mangal. Aisa nahi hai, maine Airlift bhi banai, us waqt Congress ka raaj tha. No one talked about that. Even Mission Raniganj is set during Congress’ tenure.” He said that it doesn’t matter who was in power. What matters is what was done for the betterment of the country.

When probed about his political inclinations, especially considering his exclusive interview with Prime Minister Modi before the 2019 general elections, Akshay responded with humility, saying, “Who wouldn’t seize such an opportunity? If anyone else had the chance, they would have done it too. I had the privilege of interviewing the Prime Minister, not just anyone.”
