25 Yrs Of Satya: When Shah Rukh & Rekha Awarded Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar

Ram Gopal Varma's cult film "Satya" has completed 25 years of release!

Ram Gopal Varma’s film Satya has completed 25 years of its release. This Hindi crime thriller, released in 1998, is considered a cult film and is counted as one of the best works of RGV. In the era of over-the-top action and unrealistic action stunts, RGV attempted a realistic depiction of the Indian underworld and was highly appreciated for it. Anurag Kashyap had penned the film’s story and his career trajectory witnessed a substantial rise after this film’s release. It even pushed the careers of every actor who worked in this film, especially that of Manoj Bajpayee.

The film successfully ran in theatres for over 100 days and it is considered one of the greatest films ever made by a number of critics and scholars in Indian cinema. After such phenomenal success, an award function was held in Mumbai where the cast and crew members of the film were presented with awards for their work. Superstar Shah Rukh presented awards to Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Mantodkar, and other crew members while Ram Gopal Varma received a trophy from evergreen diva Rekha. Later, in his speech, Ram Gopal Varma thanked all the actors and technicians for their contribution to the film.

This rare and throwback video is pure bliss for the fans of the classic film.

In 2013, RGV came out with the sequel of the film titled Satya 2.
