Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin made a light-hearted comment during the band’s concert in Madison indirectly referencing the viral “kiss cam” moment that recently stirred up controversy. While warming up the crowd for the stadium’s camera segment, Martin made a cheeky warning before cameras turned towards the fans in crowd, he said “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen. How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen. Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do it now.”
This subtle dig comes days after Coldplay’s concert in Massachusetts made headlines when the kiss cam captured Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot sharing an intimate moment who both were already married to other people.
The clip of Andy and Kristin quickly spread across social media. As they appeared on screen, the two tried to embarrassingly hide their faces, prompting Martin at the time to joke, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy.” The reaction led to intense backlash online and sparked conversations about workplace ethics and public behavior.
Following the incident, both Byron and Cabot were placed on leave by Astronomer. The company later confirmed Byron’s resignation in an official statement. Pete DeJoy will continue as interim CEO while the search for a new executive begins.
