Denise Richards Granted Restraining Order Against Aaron Phypers Amid Abuse Allegations

Denise Richards accuses ex-husband Aaron Phypers of years of abuse and receives a restraining order. Her court documents and statements reveal troubling details ahead of the August hearing.

Actor and reality TV star Denise Richards has been granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband Aaron Phypers. The 54-year-old actress filed court documents on July 17, alleging repeated physical and emotional abuse throughout their six-year marriage.

According to Richards, “Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages.”

Denise Richards also submitted photos showing a badly bruised and swollen eye claiming these injuries were caused by Aaron Phypers. In her statement, she said he threatened to “break my jaw,” and emotionally manipulated her into staying by crying, begging and promising help – promises she says were never kept.

She further claimed Phypers had caused her atleast three concussions and had made threats to kill both himself and her if she went to the police. “He has repeatedly threatened to kill himself and me if I reported him to the police,” she added. One specific incident in July 2024 involved Phypers allegedly grabbing her by the hair and slamming her to the ground after she suggested he not accompany her on a work trip.

Aaron Phypers who filed for divorce on July 7 citing irreconcilable differences, denied the accusations in a statement shared with People. “I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone,” he said, calling the claims “completely false and deeply hurtful.”

A court hearing for the restraining order is scheduled for August 8. Phypers is currently required to stay 100 yards away from Richards and her property.
