Ahmed Khan Opens Up On Escaping Death That Left Him in Shock
Ahmed Khan is a well-known name in Bollywood, who not only worked as a dancer but also as a choreographer, filmmaker, producer and as well as a writer. However, a lesser-known fact about him is that he has had two close encounters with death. In a recent interview with Lehren Retro, Ahmed Khan opens up about these incidents in detail , leaving everyone stunned with his revelation and his unexpected remark about how he managed to survive.
Shooting at Twin Towers Before the 9/11 Tragedy
During the conversation, Ahmed was asked about the truth behind him escaping death twice and how his wife reacted to these situations. He shared that he was shooting for the 2002 film Awara Paagal Deewana at the Twin Towers, now known as the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. Recalling the incident, he said, “I have taken a shot of that, and that must be the last time Twin Towers were seen in any film.” He further added, “We left and came back to India, and it fell down.” Ahmed was referring to the tragic 9/11 attacks in 2001 which destroyed the World Trade Center. The fact that he had filmed there just before the incident sent chills down his spine.
The Bali Tsunami Escape
The second instance happened when Ahmed was supposed to shoot in Bali and guess what at the last minute, the shoot got cancelled and his team didn’t go. He revealed that he had requested a hotel room with a sea view, and to his shock, all the rooms near the sea were wiped out when the tsunami struck Bali in the 2000s.
Ahmed Khan opens up, saying that it felt like nature gave him signs. Reflecting on his survival instincts, he made a witty remark “Main nature se kutta hu aur zindagi se billi hu” (I smell like a dog and survive like a cat). He further explained, “Maybe main soong leta hu kutte ki tarah aur bach jata hu billi ki tarah” (Maybe I sense things like a dog and escape like a cat).
Ahmed Khan has made significant contributions to Bollywood. He started as a child actor in Mr. India and later choreographed films like Taal, Ghajini, and Kick. He also directed Lakeer – Forbidden Lines and worked on Fool & Final. His journey from being a dancer to a filmmaker is nothing short of remarkable.
