Double iSmart Box Office Collection Day 1: ‘Strong Start’ For Sanjay Dutt-Ram Pothineni’s Film

DoubleiSmartBoxOffice: After much anticipation, Puri Jagannadh’s Telugu sci-fi action movie “Double iSmart” hit theaters on August 15. The film, a sequel to the 2019 hit “iSmart Shankar,” features Sanjay Dutt and Ram Pothineni in the lead roles. While the movie garnered “average” reviews from both audiences and critics, it has nonetheless made a strong opening at the box office.

Lately, both Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh have been facing continuous failure at the box office, delivering series of flops films. Therefore the expectations from iShankar’s sequel, Double iSmart have been fairly high. However, upon its release, Double iSmart received “mixed” to “average” reviews and reactions from critics and moviegoers.

However, despite the initial response, the film has managed to make a promising start at the box office. As per Sacnilk, Double iSmart earned ₹ 7.35 Cr on its opening day. The first-day collection of the film is higher than “Vedaa” and “Khel Khel Mein” which were also released on 15 August.

Furthermore, Double iSmart is expected to see growth during the upcoming weekend (Saturday-Sunday). If all goes well the film can cross the 15-20 Cr mark by the end of the weekend.

About Double iSmart

Double iSmart stars Sanjay Dutt, Ram Pothineni, and Kavya Thapar in the lead roles alongside, Bani J, Sayaji Shinde, Getup Srinu, Ali, Makarand Deshpande, and Mustaqeem Jhalaria in significant roles.

The sequel to iSmart Shankar picks up with Ram’s character still using a brain chip for memory transfers. In the sequel, Kavya Thapar plays the love interest of Shankar (Ram Pothineni), meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt who plays the role of Big Bull, along with Bani J, hunts Ram, believing the memory transfer is key to immortality. The film also delves deeper into Ram’s backstory. The film marks the Telugu debut of Sanjay Dutt.
