Somy Ali, a Pakistani-American actress known for her brief Bollywood career, till today continues to be in the headlines for her relationship with Salman Khan. The two reportedly dated for eight years and their relationship is still a hot topic today. However, what many might not know is that Somy Ali was also linked with Govinda at one point. In a throwback interview with Lehren, she addressed these rumours and shared her frustration over baseless speculation.
Somy Ali Opens Up About Govinda Link-Up Rumours
During the interview, Somy Ali was asked about the role of the media in creating controversies. Without hesitation, she responded, “Kaafi, pura haath hai (A lot, they are completely responsible)”. She explained how small incidents in the industry often get blown out of proportion, recalling a particular instance involving Govinda.
Somy revealed, “Yaha pe toh if you’re shooting with someone… I’ll give you one example – I was shooting with Govinda for the first time in my life and I had not met him or anything. After a month, I shot with him only for one day, and after a month, maine pada ki ‘Somy Ali aur Govinda ka affair chal raha hai’ (I read somewhere that Somy Ali and Govinda were having an affair).” She further expressed her disbelief, stating, “I couldn’t believe it because I never met him. I just met him once and shot with him for only a day, so it’s very ridiculous.” The actress further added, “All I can do is laugh at it and ignore it.”
In the same interview, Somy also spoke about her Bollywood journey. She recalled signing her first film opposite Salman Khan and how she was nervous to shoot with him. She also shared a moment from Andolan, where Sanjay Dutt helped her feel at ease on set.
Somy Ali’s candid reaction to these old rumors highlights how media speculation often spins harmless interactions into controversies. Despite the gossip, she chooses to laugh it off and move forward.
