Remo D’Souza, a renowned choreographer and filmmaker, was initially named Ramesh Gopi Nair. He was born on April 2, 1974, in Bangalore, hailing from a Hindu family in Olavakkode, Palakkad, Kerala. His father, Gopi Nair, was a member of the Indian Air Force. Eventually, Remo converted to Christianity and took on the name by which he is widely recognized today. Despite being raised by strict parents, Remo D’Souza received their full support when he decided to convert to Christianity and change his name.
Remo D’Souza’s distinguished contributions to the entertainment industry encompass both choreography and direction.
In terms of choreography, he has worked on several popular Bollywood tracks, including: – “Dhoom Again” from Dhoom 2 – “Disco Deewane” from Student of the Year 2 – “Senorita” from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – “Bang Bang” from Bang Bang, among many others.
As a director, Remo D’Souza has gained recognition for his successful dance films, including: – ABCD: Any Body Can Dance (2013), a dance-centric film that garnered significant popularity and initiated a franchise. – ABCD 2 (2015), the sequel that showcased exceptional dancers and achieved box office success. – Street Dancer 3D (2020), a vibrant dance film featuring impressive choreography that highlighted Remo’s skills.
Additionally, he directed Race 3 and most recently helmed an Amazon original film titled Be Happy, which premiered on March 14.
