As Kiara Advani celebrates her 35th birthday today, the actress is gearing up for the release of one of her most-awaited films Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring opposite KGF fame, Yash. Ahead of the film’s release on August 26, the actress Kiara Advani shared what made her say yes to the project and why her character Nadia became one of the most fulfilling roles of her career.
In an interview with Femina, Kiara revealed that director Geetu Mohandas’ narration immediately connected with her. She said, “When I finally heard the narration, I was mesmerised by how well fleshed out this character was.”
“All The Meat An Actor Longs For”
Speaking about Nadia – Kiara Advani explained that the role demanded a wide emotional range. She said the character moves “from strength to vulnerability, madness to derangement, sensitivity to detachment,” making it a rare opportunity for any performer.
Calling it “all the meat an actor longs for,” Kiara added, “I felt I had reached a place in my career where I was confident enough to take on such a character.”
The actress also shared her thoughts on the portrayal of women in films. “I don’t like stereotyping women in a box. We are so much more than that, so why shouldn’t our characters be,” she said, stressing that female characters deserve to be written with depth and realism.
Working With A Strong Female Cast
Kiara also spoke warmly about sharing screen space with other leading ladies Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. She described the experience as “incredibly refreshing.”
She said, “Every woman brought her own energy and individuality to the film. I think audiences will enjoy seeing such distinct female characters share the same cinematic universe. There were days on set when you could genuinely feel that everyone was pushing boundaries to create something unique. Those are the moments that remind you of why you fell in love with cinema in the first place.”
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written with Yash, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is a multilingual action thriller. The film will release in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and several other languages on August 26, 2026.
