South Actress Meena is currently going through a very rough patch in her life. She lost her husband Vidya Sagar a few days ago. 48-year-old Vidya Sagar passed away on June 28, 2022 after battling lung related ailments for the past few months.
Meena and Vidya Sagar were married for almost 13 years. If this tragedy didn’t happen, the couple would have celebrated their 13th marriage anniversary on the 12th of July. Meena is a successful star in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. Despite being one of the busiest actors, Meena always managed to maintain a balance between her work and personal life. She often expressed how she had a very loving domestic life with Vidya Sagar. But did you know that Meena had initially refused to marry Vidya Sagar?
Well, Meena and Vidya Sagar tied the knot in an arranged setup. When Meena’s family was looking for a suitable groom, it was Vidya Sagar’s horoscope that matched Meena’s. A meeting was then arranged where the duo interacted for the first time in order to know each other better. Meena wasn’t much impressed due to their different professions and views. The actress even told him about the same.
Meena has always worked in films. Her first on-screen appearance was as a child artist in 1982 in the film ‘Nenjangal. And in 1990, she made her debut as a leading actress with the Telugu film ‘Navayugam’. While Meena’s life was always full of glam, Vidya Sagar was a Bangalore-based software engineer.

When Meena told Vidya Sagar that he wasn’t her type, the gentleman gracefully accepted her decision. However, one of Meena’s aunts stepped in and strictly told her that she was missing out on a good person. Meena then eventually agreed to marry Vidya Sagar.
The duo tied the knot on 12 July 2009. They welcomed a baby girl in 2011 and named her Nainika.
After the passing away of her husband, she took to her Instagram and wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my loving husband Vidya Sagar. I sincerely request all media to respect our privacy and sympathize this situation. Please stop further broadcast of any false information on this matter.”
Meena is known for her films like Drishyam, Parda Hai Parda, Coolie, Krishna Babu, Villain, Bro Daddy amongst others.
