Riteish Deshmukh- Genelia Deshmukh To Produce Marathi Web Series

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh's Ved has grossed over Rs. 70 crores at Indian box office.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh have been producing Marathi films for a decade under their home production ‘Mumbai Film Company’. Now the real and reel life couple is set to make their foray into producing OTT content.

In a conversation with Film Companion, Riteish revealed that they are looking to produce a big budget Marathi web series based on a popular Marathi book. “We have got a rights for this highly acclaimed Marathi book ‘Shodh’. Basically it’s an action adventure treasure hunt that dwells in past and present at the same time. It’s a very exciting book and we are very excited to develop this into a big series”, Riteish revealed.

For the unversed, Shodh is popular action adventure Marathi book written by Murali Khairnar. The book was published in 2015 and has been one of the best seller Marathi book of the past decade. The book is set in two time periods. First period is 1670- when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj looted Surat and the second timeline is set in current time period.

Meanwhile, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh are enjoying the success of their recent blockbuster Ved. Despite Pathaan-mania, the romantic drama is doing a decent business. The film has collected over Rs. 70 crores in one month all over India.
