Ranveer Singh “Monkeying Around” At Weddings Is Destroying His Brand – Singer Sona Mohapatra Slams Actor

Recently, a singer, composer and lyricist Sona Mohapatra criticized Ranveer Singh for “monkeying around” at such events, claiming that he is losing his brand value.

In an interview with Indie’N Folk Project, Sona Mohapatra shared her views on how, in India, inviting celebrities to weddings is not just about throwing money at celebrities but a way for people to flex their status and say “You know that singer or actor performed at our wedding”. While giving an example, she specifically she pointed out how it breaks her heart to see Ranveer Singh performing at multiple events.

Sona Mohapatra began by acknowledging Ranveer Singh’s talent stating, “When I see Ranveer Singh, whom I have known for many years as a very, very talented actor – he’s actually very talented! When he was rapping in Gully Boy, he made the effort and he was really good!”

Sona Mohapatra Expresses Disappointment

However, she then expressed her disappointment saying, “But it breaks my heart to see him monkeying around so much at all these events.” She questioned, “Is he a singer? Is he a performer? What is he doing on stage monkeying around? What on earth is he doing?” The Ambarsariya singer further added that she believes Ranveer Singh is “destroying his brand” and clarified that this was her personal opinion.

Sona Mohapatra on Dignity and Public Image

Explaining her stance, the singer-composer said, “He is destroying his brand because I think India really cares for dignity.” When asked if she was referring to his wedding performances, she elaborated, “In general, I think he’s always in that zone. Whether it’s the reels that were coming out of weddings, where he was going bonkers, jumping around on stage.”

The Jiya Lage Na singer continued, “He’s a gun for hire, and I understand that money is to be made. But how much money is enough? And at what cost? Because somewhere, I think you’re losing your main audience.” She directed her message to Ranveer Singh, saying, “This comes from a place of heartbreak for me. He’s such a good actor! Why would you not understand that India, your fans, and the public value their actors and cricketers?” Sona Mohapatra concluded by saying that celebrities should consider their actions before participating in such events.

Ranveer Singh is known for his energetic dance moves and captivating performances. His appearances at events and weddings often go viral on social media, gaining widespread attention.
