How Does Rohit Roy Share Such A Close Bond With Salman Khan?
When we think of Salman Khan, we often picture his signature style, strong screen presence and the personality that has made him one of Bollywood’s most recognised stars. While he shares close bonds with several people in the industry, not everyone can casually approach him or take the same liberties with him. So, what makes actor Rohit Bose Roy equation with the superstar Salman Khan different?
In an exclusive interview with Lehren, Rohit opened up about his long-standing bond with Salman after being asked about a photograph in which he had his arm around the actor’s back. His response revealed an interesting detail about their friendship including a remark from Salman himself that Rohit clearly remembers.
Salman Khan Has Known Rohit Since His Teenage Years
Rohit revealed that Salman has been part of his life since he was just 14 years old. His elder brother Ronit Roy, was already close to Salman, and their friendship continues to this day. Salman also gave the muhurat clap for Rohit’s first Bollywood film Jazbaat (1994).
Recalling their equation, Rohit said, “Main unko tabse jaanta hoon… main 14 saal ka tha. Kyunki Ronit aur Salman bahut achhe dost the aur aaj bhi hain. Par main kabhi yeh nahi kahunga ki woh mere dost hain. Woh mere bade bhai samaan hain… jo aadhe Hindustan ke bade Bhaijaan ki tarah hain.”
His words reflected the respect he has for Salman, whom he considers more like an elder brother than just a friend.
What Salman Khan Said About Rohit’s Liberties
Talking about the photograph, Rohit jokingly pointed out that people might not have seen Salman posing so casually with many others, including some of those closest to him. “Yeh jo tasveer ki baat ki aapne, unki girlfriends ki baat chhodiye, Sohail, Arbaaz aur unke best friends ke saath aisi photos dekhi nahi hogi,” he said.
Rohit then explained how the photograph came about. Salman had called him to discuss a film for which Rohit had initially been approached, although the casting did not eventually work out. After their discussion, the two sat together and began chatting.
Rohit realised they did not have a photograph together and asked Salman if they could take one. The actor reportedly replied, “Never too late, take it now.”
Rohit recalled that Naseer was standing nearby and took the picture.
“Even Sohail And Arbaaz Don’t Take Such Liberties”
Rohit wondered whether Salman allowed him to be so informal because of their years-long bond. He even asked the superstar if he irritated him by taking so many liberties.
“I think Naseer khada tha aur Naseer ne tasveer li. Aur yeh liberty aisa nahi hai ki woh sirf mujhe dete honge. Ho sakta hai ki woh Arbaaz aur Sohail ko bhi dete honge. Par jab maine unko bola, ‘Main aapko bahut irritate karta hoon na, Bhai? I take liberties like Sohail and Arbaaz must have been taking?’ aur unka jawaab yeh tha ki, ‘Even Sohail and Arbaaz don’t take the liberties that you take.’”
The story offers a glimpse into a relationship built over many years, beginning when Rohit was still a teenager. Known for his work in films such as Kaante (2002), LOC Kargil (2003), Kaabil (2017) and Mumbai Saga (2021), Rohit has built a career across television and cinema!
Their exchange also shows how friendships in the film industry can extend beyond professional associations. Sometimes, a photograph and a simple conversation reveal the comfort two people share after knowing each other for decades.
