Is Bollywood Glorifying Violence? Imran Khan Raises Concern: “I’m Disturbed By This Trend…”

0

There was a time when audiences loved simple, emotional love stories and actors like Imran Khan became known for playing calm, kind and emotionally aware characters. Films like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu and Break Ke Baad showed a softer side of men that felt real and relatable.

But today, things look very different. A new evolution of storytelling has taken up and Bollywood has moved towards intense, action-heavy films where aggression and agression often take centre stage. Many viewers have noticed this shift and so has Imran.

“No Interest In Playing A Hairy, Angry Man…”

During a recent Reddit AMA session, Imran Khan spoke honestly about the current trend. When a fan requested him not to take up macho roles, he replied, “Yeah, no interest in playing a hairy, angry man covered in blood. I think that genre is generously represented.”

While he didn’t mention any names, many online users quickly connected his comment to recent films known for their violent tone.

Calling Out Problematic Narratives

In another response, Imran went deeper into what really concerns him. Talking about how male characters are being written today, he said, “I have also noticed this trend and am disturbed by the way these films coddle every violent tantrum thrown by emotionally immature man-children who can’t conceive of a valid reason that a woman might spurn their advances.”

He also made an important distinction: “It’s important to note that there’s a significant difference between portraying violence and toxicity and validating them.”

For him, the issue is not just about showing violence but about how it is presented and justified.

“I See It As People Chasing A Trend”

Imran didn’t hold back when explaining why this shift is happening. According to him, it’s more about following what’s popular rather than telling responsible stories. “I see it as people chasing a trend without consideration. My own sensibilities would not permit me to participate in a narrative which I consider irresponsible.” His words reflect his discomfort with the direction mainstream storytelling is taking.

While fans continue to debate his views, there’s also excitement around his return. Imran has hinted at that he is working on a light-hearted project which is titled Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, something that may bring back the kind of storytelling he once represented.

For many, that feels like a much-needed change.

It is widely known that there was a time when Emraan Hashmi was one of the nation’s biggest heartthrobs, and he continues to hold that place through his memorable music and gripping films. His craze wasn’t just limited to India but crossed borders as well and in a throwback interview, Emraan Hashmi spoke about the immense love he received from Pakistani audiences, especially when his films were making a strong impact there.

From Awarapan (2007) to Gangster (2006) and Killer (2006), his films found a dedicated fan base across the border. This conversation took place during the promotions of Jannat (2008), just before its premiere in Pakistan.

Emraan Hashmi On Special Connection With Pakistani Fans

Talking about his visit he acknowledged how well his films performed there and how the audience connected with his work, Emraan shared, “Yes, Pakistan ja rahe hai. Picture ko premiere karne wale hai waha pe, media se interact karenge. Shaant yaane, dekhte hai Hindi filmein aur meri filmein bhi dekhi hai unhone toh aisa koi shock nahi hoga unko film dekhke. Unhone meri picturon ko pasand kiya hai aur ek feedback hamesha mila hai. Maine hamesha waha ke media se baat ki hai, hamesha bahut positive response mila hai, they are very broad minded in their thinking… jis kisam ki filmein dekhte hai waha pe, and I’m looking forward to enjoy and watch the film with them.”

Dhurandhar: The Revenge Smashes Weekend Records: ₹450 Cr In 4 Days, But Can It Keep Up?

0

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has started its box office journey on a strong note. Within just four days, the film has crossed ₹450 crore (net) in India, making it one of the biggest opening weekends for a Hindi film. Released on March 19, this epic spy thriller quickly gained momentum, especially over the weekend.

The film had an early boost with paid previews, collecting around ₹43 crore before its official release. From there, the growth has been steady and consistent, showing strong audience interest across regions.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge Day-Wise Box Office Breakdown

Here’s how the film performed day by day:

  • Day 1 (Thursday): ₹102.55 crore
  • Day 2 (Friday): ₹80.72 crore
  • Day 3 (Saturday): ₹113.00 crore
  • Day 4 (Sunday): ₹114.85 crore

The total India net collection now stands at approximately ₹454 crore while the gross collection has crossed ₹540 crore. Globally, the film is nearing the ₹700 crore mark, showing strong performance overseas as well!

What’s Driving the Numbers?

A few key factors seem to be working in the film’s favor. First, the extended weekend and festive period helped bring in larger crowds. Occupancy levels reportedly crossed 80% in many regions during peak days.

Secondly, the film’s wide release in multiple languages has helped it connect with audiences beyond the Hindi belt. In several cities theatres have reported packed shows especially during evening slots.

Dhurandhar 2 continues the story from its first part and even in the sequel Ranveer Singh continues to play an undercover agent navigating a dangerous mission, mainly his performance has been a major talking point among viewers.

Along with him, actors like Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera and Rakesh Bedi add weight to the narrative. The film’s scale and storytelling seem to be keeping audiences engaged despite its long runtime.

Can It Maintain the Pace?

While the opening numbers are impressive, the real test begins on weekdays. Monday collections will offer a clearer picture of how strong the film’s hold really is, considering the solid word-of-mouth and the fact that audiences are sitting through a nearly 4-hour theatrical experience, it seems the viewing game may be changing. If the film continues at this pace, crossing ₹1000 crore worldwide may not take long.

Dhurandhar 2 has clearly made a strong start at the box office. With solid weekend numbers and positive audience turnout, the film is off to a promising run. Now, all eyes are on how it performs in the coming days.

Dhurandhar The Revenge Movie Review:

The cinematic grammar is the same. After a long disclaimer, Aditya Dhar returns to his chapter-wise narrative style that flags off with A Burnt Memory – the turning of family-loving fauji Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh) into hardened undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari.

There’s a brief introduction to UP gangster Atif Ahmed, there are criminals operating on both sides of the border, drugs are a big deal with the underworld, patriotism is never on the table.

With Shashwat Sachdev’s now-familiar Aari Aari as the BG score, an unhurried Dhar returns to a post-Dakait Lyari that’s struggling for a new leader. Unhurried to such an extent that by the time he reaches halftime, you are restless.

To begin with, the characters and their characterisations continue with no new faces or twists.

SP Chaudhry Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) and his generous four-letter vocabulary – present as before.

Kaafir-hating jallad Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal) – we saw him last time.

Cunning and funny politician Jameel Jamali (Rakesh Bedi) – nothing’s changed in him.

Hamza/Jaskirat – you know his ‘ghar mein ghuske maarenge’ agenda.

Therefore, in the relaxed one hour + buildup before Hamza claims the Lyari throne, the unchanged players take centrestage with Dhar lingering on gang wars in Karachi that feature a bunch of faceless figures bludgeoning one another.

Just when you almost want to give up, Dhar throws a googly before the popcorn break and thenceforth, you stay glued.

The cross-border events are recent. So the Burnol moment in Pakistan when Narendra Modi is sworn in, the relentless efforts to destabilise the regime, the conspiracy behind the demonetisation of 8 November 2016, or the killing of a UP gangster outside the jail, all of which Dhar unapologetically documents, connect instantly with today’s viewer.

Simultaneously, references to a 10 per cent Pak leader and the return of another called Shariq, clearly identifiable as Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, lend more touches of authenticity to the fictionalised retelling of the terror-and-retaliation between India and Pakistan.

Aditya Dhar’s detailing of events and the faultless performances merge into a documentation so complete that it will be a tough act to follow, for spy stories to be told with such precision in the future.

With a vein standing out on his forehead when he’s intense, Ranveer Singh takes the spotlight this time, owning the screen as Jaskirat who must burn the past time and again as the unsung heroes of our real spy world do when they set out on a mission. From tender emotional – burning a family photograph, baring himself to wife Yalina (Sara Arjun), watching his mother – to gutting and blowing the brains out of gangsters and those plotting against Hindustan, Ranveer gives Jaskirat and Hamza energy, muscle and missionary zeal.

Arjun Rampal with the help of a menacing getup that includes a golden tooth, gets more footage this time around especially in a climax that’s rather long drawn out. He also gets a father in a wheelchair who taunts him as an impotent namard every time he fails to nail Bharat. This is a new addition which has its share of foul language and verbal pokes that give a giggle to the audience.

A bedridden “Bade Sahab” alias Dawood Ibrahim (Danish Iqbal) makes an appearance with a telling revelation at the end that says the Indian network still has him in its sights.

While Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Manav Gohil mark their presence well, Rakesh Bedi continues to amuse and surprise.

What are the drawbacks? The punchy dialogues (eg Ghayal ho isliye ghatak ho) are a repetition. The first hour could’ve been more engaging. The violence is disturbing. The length is not always justified. And yes, I did feel the lack of a charismatic substitute for Rehman Dakait.

But do stay till the end when Aditya serves a delight or two before bidding farewell.

Dhurandhar The Revenge – Watch Or Not?: You’ll feel left out if you don’t watch it and contribute to the chatter around it. And watch the end credits as well. They’re worth the ticket money.

“Biggest secret that I ever kept!?”

Sanjay Dutt & Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunar’ Song Faces Legal Action Over Double-Meaning Lyrics: Full Controversy Explained

A new controversy has taken over social media, Sanjay DUtt And Nora Fatehi’s latest song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke was suddenly removed from YouTube. The track, featuring Sanjay Dutt and part of an original Kannada film KD: The Devil which has been dubbed in several languages including Hindi, and faced strong backlash over its lyrics and choreography.

What Really Happened?

The song initially created buzz online for its catchy music and Nora Fatehi’s dance moves but soon within hours of its release, many viewers began pointing out what they felt were double-meaning lyrics and suggestive visuals.

By March 16, the video was still accessible but soon after, users started seeing a “video unavailable” message. Reports suggest that the makers either made the video private or removed it following growing pressure. The controversy mainly revolves around the lyrics written by Raqeeb Alam and certain dance steps that many called inappropriate for general audiences.

Public Reaction And Celebrity Criticism

The reaction online was quick and turned very intense. While some viewers enjoyed the song, a large section criticized it for crossing a line.

Singer Armaan Malik also openly called the track a “new low” in songwriting. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh also reacted, questioning the content and calling it disappointing. Many social media users echoed similar thoughts. Some said Bollywood songs have lost their depth, while others felt such content should not be promoted widely.

Legal Trouble And Official Action

The matter did not stop at online criticism. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took note of the issue and issued a notice. A complaint was also filed by a social activist, raising concerns about the song’s impact, especially on younger audiences. The complaint reportedly mentions legal provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act and the IT Act. Authorities have also approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), asking for stricter action.

What’s Next?

So far, the makers of KD: The Devil have not released an official statement. The film is directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, which is scheduled to release on April 30, 2026. For now, the song remains unavailable online and the debate continues. While some call it censorship, others believe it was necessary.

Salman Khan’s upcoming most-anticipated war drama has received a new title. The film which was earlier announced as Battle of Galwan, will now be called Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The actor revealed the update on Monday by sharing a new poster on social media along with the line, “May War Rest in Peace.”

The poster with new title Maatrubhumi shows Salman Khan in an intense look, standing behind a wooden log wrapped in a spiked chain with blood marks hinting at the harsh conditions of the battlefield.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The confrontation which happened on June 15, 2020, was one of the most serious military standoffs between the two countries in recent years.

In the film, Salman Khan plays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment. He led Indian soldiers during the confrontation while implementing a disengagement agreement at the border.

Colonel Babu and 19 other soldiers lost their lives in the clash. He was later awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second-highest wartime gallantry honour.

The film also stars Chitrangda Singh as the female lead, while actors Abhilash Chaudhary and Ankur Bhatia will appear in important roles.

While the project was earlier expected to release in April, reports now suggest the film might arrive in theatres around August. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the new date yet.

Farah Khan Reveals How She Forced Geeta Kapur To Judge DID, Changing Her Life: “Shut Your Mouth And Just Do…”

The bond between Farah Khan and Geeta Kapur is often described as more than just professional, like mom and daughter as they fondly call eachother. For years, the two popular choreographers have shared a relationship that feels like family. Geeta started working with Farah as an assistant when she was just 18 and over time she grew into one of the most recognisable faces in dance reality television.

And today, Geeta Kapur is widely known as “Geeta Maa,” a title she earned while judging the popular ZEE TV show Dance India Dance. But interestingly, there was a time when she almost refused to take up that role.

The Beginning Of A Famous Journey

Dance India Dance began in 2009 and quickly became one of India’s most loved dance reality shows. Geeta joined the judging panel alongside Remo D’Souza and Terence Lewis. However, according to Farah Khan, the decision almost didn’t happen.

During a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Farah opened up about the early days of the show and how Geeta was hesitant to accept the offer. She recalled, “I forced her to do that show actually, she has been my assistant for many years since she was 18-year-old she was with me.” Farah said she believed the opportunity could change Geeta’s career, even though Geeta was unsure at the time.

Farah Khan To Geeta Kapur “Shut Your Mouth And Just Do It”

Explaining why Geeta initially refused, Farah shared the conversation they had. “She was like ‘Mumma they’re not paying me…’. I said shut your mouth and just do it. They are making you a judge. Your life will change and literally, her! Everyone’s life changed Remo, Terence, Geeta all of them.”

And that prediction turned out to be true. The show became a huge success and all three judges gained massive popularity!

Reality Shows Then And Now

While talking about the show, Farah also shared her thoughts on how reality television has changed over time. She said many shows earlier felt more natural compared to today’s format. She added, “There are some iconic shows aur fir ab TV wale vo show ko gis-gis ke uska jo joy tha vo nikalte the. (Some shows became iconic, but later television kept repeating and stretching them so much that the original joy disappeared.)”

Farah explained that this is exactly why she tries to keep her own YouTube content fresh, entertaining and different.

Looking back, Farah Khan’s push turned out to be a turning point in Geeta Kapur’s career. From being an assistant choreographer to becoming the beloved “Geeta Maa,” her journey shows how one opportunity can shape an entire career!

Badshah Faces Arrest Order After Skipping Haryana Women’s Commission Hearing Amid ‘Tateeree’ Song Controversy

0

Haryana State Commission for Women has raised an order of arrest on rapper Badshah, after he allegedly failed to appear before the panel regarding allegations linked to his recently released Haryanvi song titled ‘Tateere’.

The commission had asked the rapper to appear in Panipat by 3PM on Friday to respond to complaints about the lyrics of his song and visuals used in his music video. However, after he did not attend the hearing within the given deadline, the panel got furious and decided to take strict action against the rapper.

Chairperson Renu Bhatia confirmed that instructions had been issued to authorities to proceed with the arrest.

Passport Seizure And Search Orders

Speaking live with media in Panipat, Renu Bhatia said authorities have been asked to act immediately. She stated, “I have ordered SP Panipat to get Badshah arrested from anywhere, any place and issue search orders.” She further also directed officials to seize rapper’s passport to prevent him from flying out of the country until the matter is under investigation.

According to the commission, the track allegedly contains language and visuals that insult women. Officials also raised concerns about scenes in the video showing girls in school uniforms discarding their school bags.

FIR Filed Under Legal Provisions

Police have already registered cases related to the song in Panchkula and Jind. The FIR includes charges under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 and Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with obscene acts and songs.

Authorities say the complaint was filed by a local resident who alleged that the music video contains objectionable content that misrepresents women and the school environment.

Meanwhile, police have also started the process of issuing a look-out circular to ensure the rapper does not leave the country during the investigation.

Rapper’s Response Through Legal Team

Badshah’s legal representatives appeared before the commission and requested more time for his appearance. According to his lawyer, the summons had not been received earlier.

The lawyer also said the rapper had apologised if the song hurt anyone’s sentiments and confirmed that the video had been removed from YouTube.

“Under the law, everyone has the right to present their side. But here that is not being given,” the lawyer said while speaking to reporters.

As the legal process continues, the controversy around the “Tateeree” music video remains under investigation. Authorities have made it clear that the case will proceed according to law while both sides present their arguments.
