India cricket team skipper Virat Kohli took to his Instagram to condemn the cruel killing of the pregnant elephant in Kerala. The elephant died when she ate a pineapple filled with explosives. The incident has led to widespread outrage in the country, calling for strong action against the perpetrators by thousands of people. Several people on Twitter also shared sketches and illustrations as a way of apologizing for the horrific act of animal cruelty. Virat Kohli too took to social media to speak out against the horrific crime.
The 31-year old fiery batsman shared a sketch of elephant, with a baby in her womb, both having halos over their head. He accompanied the image by writing, “Appalled to hear about what happened in Kerala. Let’s treat our animals with love and bring an end to these cowardly acts.”
Apart from Virat Kohli his wife Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also expressed her anger regarding the incident. Even she shared a gut-wrenching sketch on her Instagram, she wrote, “We all would urge @cmokerala to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice for this heinous crime.”
India’s football team skipper Sunil Chhetri also tweeted a strong message on the horrific act. He wrote, “She was a harmless, pregnant Elephant. That makes the people who did what they did, monsters and I hope so hard that they pay a price. We keep failing nature over and over again. Remind me how we’re the more evolved species?”
Former team India skipper MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni too condemned the horrific action and shared a message on her Instagram.
The wild elephant had left the Silent Valley forests in Palakkad district, wandering to a nearby village in search of food where she ate the pineapple filled with explosions. The fruit exploded in her mouth and left her in searing pain as she spent days walking around the village, unable to eat anything due to her injuries. Eventually, she passed away standing in a river.
