Ashok Dinda has played consecutive matches in IPL from different teams till 2017. But for the past 2 years, the medium-pace bowler has been sidelined due to his high economy rate and inability to take wickets.
Ashok Dinda was amongst the last five players who were added at the last moment into the IPL Auction, conducted last week. While many players went on to make higher bids in the auction, Ashok Dinda remained unsold. And as the Bengal spearhead is the favorite meme content for the netizens, many memes started to surface the internet about Ashok Dinda remaining unsold. Last year, when such an incident happened Dinda took it on his Instagram to post a story of his absolute remarkable Domestic records and silenced the trolls.
But this time it seems like the series of unfortunate events continue to unfold for Dinda, as he has got himself into trouble for abusing his Bengal team bowling coach, Ranadeb Bose. The medium-pacer lost his cool and abused Bose in front of all the Bengal Players, as he thought that the coach was having some “personal conversations” regarding him with the Bengal team captain Abhimanyu Easwaran.
Angered by this incident Bose lodged a complaint against Dinda with Cricket Association of Bengal. CAB asked Dinda to apologies for his behavior but he refused to do so, eventually, the CAB decided to drop him from the squad until further decisions. When the Bengal coach Arun Lal was asked about this incident he said that he respects CAB’s decision to drop Dinda from the squad, the team needed a senior player like him but unfortunately, they have to let him go and move on from the incident and start to focus on the upcoming Ranjhi Trophy matches.
From a career perspective, Ashok Dinda has a decent record in the home games, and has been a leading wicket-taker for Bengal in Ranjhi Trophy from 2017-19, with 63 dismissals in 16 matches played during that span. Even after having a good record in the home games, Dinda has failed to impress in IPL as well as in the Indian Cricket Team.
