Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar provokes Maharashtra governor.
Bhagat Singh Koshyari had made unpleasing and rather malicious comments to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray.
Sharad Pawar had already condemned the governor over his use of foul language. But he seems in no mood to let it go. After Home Minister Amit Shah also called out Koshyari over his comments, Pawar now had new fodder to provoke the governor.
“Anyone with self-respect will not continue in the post. Who are we to make any demand,” Mr Pawar told reporters in Osmanabad district. He was taking note of the flood-affected areas.
“After the Union Home Minister’s statement expressing disappointment over language in the letter, anybody with self-respect will take a call on whether to continue in the post or not.”
“If Union Home Minister has raised concern over the language used by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, it’s significant,” he concluded
Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Maharashtra governor over his choice of words.
He said, “Bhagat Singh Koshyari could have chose his words better.”
The Cusp of the Matter
The story started when Bhagat Singh Koshyari requested CM Uddhav Thackeray to reopen places of worship. The Chief Minister was rightly reluctant to do so as the COVID-19 cases were on rise. This did not sit down well with the Governor.
“You have been a strong votary of Hindutva. You had publicly espoused your devotion for Lord Rama by visiting Ayodhya after taking charge as Chief Minister. It was you who had visited the Vitthal Rukmini Mandir in Pandharpur and performed the puja on Ashadhi Ekadashi,” he wrote in his letter.
“I wonder if you are receiving any divine premonition to keep postponing the reopening of places of worship time and again or have you turned ‘secular’ yourselves, a term you hated?”

Obviously not one to being taken down, the Chief Minister shot back saying,”You said I am getting divine premonitions? Maybe you get them but I am not so big.”
He added that his Hindutva did not need any certificate from him and he would only make a decision after careful consideration.
