Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reacts to Eknathji Khadse’s allegations against him. The now leader of opposition has called all the allegations baseless and untrue. He also said that he will be speaking about it at the right time.
The Backstory
Former Revenue Minister Eknathji Khadse was one of the prominent leaders of BJP in the state. He had to resign from his post in the face of corruption charges. This time he was also denied election ticket in state assembly elections.
While Khadse state that he had nothing against the central or state Bhartiya Janta Party, his anger is towards Fadnavis. The former CM had apparently falsely accused him misconduct with woman and lodged false cases against him.
“I am upset with former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who made the police fabricate false cases against me. One case of outraging the modesty of a woman was registered against me on the orders from Fadnavis who was then CM and home minister. Similarly, corruption cases in Bhosri land deal and cases by anti-corruption bureau were registered against me, though nothing came out of them,” Khadse said in Jalgaon.
He also said that he does not know the reason foe such a punishment and sought action against Fadnavis but got no reply.
The Other Side
Devendra Fadnavis however responded to these allegations as false and half-truth. He also said that he will be speaking at the right time.
“It’s unfortunate that he resigned. He shouldn’t have resigned. As far as his allegation against me is concerned, he’s speaking half-truth. He could have complained against me to seniors. At this moment I won’t speak much on it but I’ll speak at the right time,” the former CM was quoted saying in an interview.
The reason for these to leader to be at logger heads seems to stem from the post of Chief Minister. Khadse was expecting the post to fall in his lap after the Bhartiya Janta Party won state elections in 2014. BJP, however gave that post to Devendra Fadnavis.

The party also tired to console an angry Khadse by giving him revenue and other ventures but he was bitter by BJP’s apparent injustice.
Eknathji Khadse will be joining Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party later this year.
Current Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has also extended an invitation to Khadse to join the MVA. The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi is a joint alliance of NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena.
