Business Tycoon Cyrus Mistry Dies In Car Accident

Former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident on Sunday afternoon.

Cyrus Mistry Death: Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of Tata Group, died in a car accident today. The accident reportedly took place on the Surya River Charoti bridge on the Mumbai Ahmedabad National Highway. The business tycoon was returning to Mumbai from Gujarat in his Mercedes when his car hit a divider in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

The police official told PTI, “The accident took place around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was travelling to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya river. It seems an accident.”

According to the reports, two other people injured in the mishap are hospitalised.

PM Narendra Modi is mourning his sudden demise. He tweeted, “The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.”

Cyrus Mistry was appointed as the sixth chairman of the Tata Group in mid-2012. In 2026, the board removed him from the post of chairman after offering him an opportunity to resign voluntarily.
