Biggies Of The Cricket World Congratulate Stuart Broad On Joining The 500 Wickets Club

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh along with other cricketers took to social media to congratulate England pacer Stuart Broad on taking 500 wickets in Test cricket. Read below to read the congratulatory wishes.

England pacer Stuart Broad grabbed his 500th wicket by chipping Kraigg Braithwaite for a leg-before wicket (LBW) in a game against the West Indies on Tuesday at the Old Trafford stadium. Broad is only the seventh bowler to achieve this milestone and also the fourth quickest.

The 34-year old pacer has been receiving praises and congratulatory from all across the globe for his extra-ordinary achievement. Apart from Broad’s fans, many cricketers too took to their social media handles to commend his attainment.

India’s former cricketer and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar in his congratulatory tweet wrote, “Congratulations to England on their emphatic series win. And like I said earlier, @StuartBroad8 had a spring in his step and was out there on a mission. Congratulations also to him on picking his 500th Test wicket. Terrific achievement! #ENGvWI”.

Former Aussie cricketer and World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting also praised the English seamer for his feat. In his tweet, Ponting wrote, “Congratulations @StuartBroad8 on 500 Test wickets. Always a tough competitor and a very skillful bowler especially in English conditions. #ENGvWI”.

Meanwhile, England’s former skipper Michael Vaughan also wished Stuart Broad for his commendable performance. Vaughan shared a throwback picture with Broad and wrote, “Always felt he was going to have a good Test career but I didn’t have 500 Test wickets in the equation !!! Skill, resilience, hard work, stubbornness … And when you think he started out as a Batsman … A great lesson to all young cricketers … Congrats @stuartbroad8 #500 #TestCricket”.

England’s Paul Collingwood praised Broady for his performance and wished that there were spectators in the ground to celebrate this great moment. He wrote, “Such a shame that the ground can’t be full for @StuartBroad8 500th Test wicket but we are all watching in admiration of such a huge achievement. Incredible. #ENGvWI #cricket #500 club”.

However, the congratulatory note that garnered a lot of limelight was from former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. For the unversed, Yuvi had hit Stuart Broad six 6s in an over during the 2007 T20 World Cup. In his congratulatory note, Yuvi asked his fans to forget the past and appreciate where Broad has reached since back then.
