For decades, brothers Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt stood as one of Bollywood’s most iconic duos – creating magic through Vishesh Films and gifted audiences with their countless memorable films. But their unexpected separation few years ago left fans and the industry equally shocked which soon led to rumors hinting at a major fallout between the brothers, with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt later claiming that Mahesh once called Mukesh an “exploiter” who used him for his creative work.
Now, in an exclusive conversation with Lehren Retro, Mukesh Bhatt has broke silence and shared his side of the story, offering clarity and heartfelt honesty about what really went wrong.

Opening up like never before, Mukesh shared that not every separation stems from anger or conflict and sometimes, it’s about understanding of when to let go. “In some relationships, things naturally dry up with time. When relations are wet, they feel good. But when they dry, it’s better to part ways beautifully rather than drag it into bitterness,” he explained.
To express his emotions more poetically, Mukesh quoted poet Zahir Ji’s lines that deeply resonated with him: “Taluk jo bhoj ban jaye, usse khoobsurat mod dekar chhod dena behtar hai.” He added that their split was not bitter and clarified that “There was no fight or cursing each other. Mere andar toh nahi hai bilkul, unke andar ho toh pata nahi. Mere andar toh bilkul nahi hai.”
“Vo Mera Bhagwaan Hai” – On Love, Respect, and Misunderstanding
While speaking about his brother, Mukesh Bhatt maintained that he holds no resentment and continues to love and respect Mahesh deeply. He also admitted that a few people may have tried to influence Mahesh, leading to misunderstandings between them. However, he refused to name anyone.
Reaffirming his feelings, he said, “Mahesh Bhatt is my God, he is my elder brother. I love him a lot and always will. I wish him respect, love and prayers because he is a very good human being. No matter how good someone is, everyone has shortcomings. His shortcoming is that he gets easily influenced, and he got swept up in that.”
Mukesh Bhatt’s calm and composed reflections show that even though the brothers’ professional journey took separate turns, their emotional connection remains despite the distance.
