American actress and singer-songwriter Lindsay Lohan’s father Michael Lohan was arrested over the weekend in Texas for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife, Kate Major. The 64-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday, February 22, and charged with “continuous violence against the family”. He is currently being held on a $30,000 bond.
According to reports in Hindustan Times, Kate Major was at a doctor’s appointment when she noticed Lohan in the parking lot. Concerned that he was following her, she informed law enforcement. She also told authorities that he had allegedly flipped her out of a chair at their home a few days earlier, causing visible bruising and deputies confirmed her injuries and took Michael Lohan into custody without incident. He is set to appear in court on Monday to address the charges against him.
This is not the first time Lindsay Lohan’s father Michael Lohan and Kate Major have had legal trouble. Their relationship has been marked by multiple altercations, including a 2020 incident where Lohan was accused of choking Major. Additionally, Major has faced legal issues herself including a past arrest for allegedly attacking Lohan after a heated argument.
The couple got married in 2014 but separated in 2015. In 2018, Major filed for divorce stating their relationship was beyond repair. They share two sons – Landon and Logan. Before his marriage to Major, Michael Lohan was married to Dina Lohan with whom he shares four children including Lindsay Lohan.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation, and further legal proceedings will determine the outcome. Neither Lindsay Lohan nor her representatives have commented on the arrest yet.
