Here are some ways you can follow to prevent eye infections like conjunctivitis during rainy season-

Eye infection and conjunctivitis (pink eye) are bacterial infections that are very contagious and can spread just by touching. While the risk of these infections gets increased during the rainy season. However, one can easily prevent these bacterial eye infections by taking necessary precautions. Here are some ways you can follow to prevent eye infections during rainy season-

  1. Wash Your Hands Often

Throughout the day you touch different stuff and surfaces that might carry bacteria. And so, it is necessary to clean your hands often in a day for at least 20 seconds to prevent any sorts or bacterial eye infections. One should also refrain touching their eyes before cleaning hands. Make sure to take a bath regularly during monsoon and avoid wearing wet clothes and shoes.

2. Do Not Rub Your Eyes

Another thing you must keep in mind to avoid eye infection is “not” to rub your eyes. If you have red eyes and your eyes feel irritated, splash or wash your eyes with water rather than rubbing them. Rubbing your eyes will only spread the infection throughout and worsen the condition of your eyes.

3. Wash Clothes In Hot Water

Rainy season can bring along alot of bacterial infections. And to make sure you are safe, one must change their sheet covers, pillow covers, clothes and stuff that comes in contact with your body often. Make sure to wash your sheets, towels and covers in hot water to eliminate any sort of bacteria.

4. Stop Wearing Lenses

Wearing contact lenses during monsoon brings in high chances of contacting an eye infection. So, one must avoid using lenses during the rainy season. But if you must wear contacts then make sure, to clean and store your lenses in a hygienic way. And keep changing them often to reduce chances of infection. Also avoid exposure to rainwater.

5. Avoid Crowded Places

Eye infections are highly communicable, and one should avoid gathering in crowded places to prevent any bacterial eye infections. But if you must do then make sure to wear glasses. Also avoid doing activities like swimming during monsoon.

6. Eat Hygenic Food And Drink More Water

To prevent any type of bacterial infection, one must keep hydrated. Also make sure to wash the vegetables and fruits properly before consuming.

7. Protect Eyes From Rain Water

Avoid any type of direct contact with the rainwater. The rainwater contains various types of germs and bacteria that can cause eye infections.
