Fans were thrilled when Coldplay announced their Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025, especially with concerts scheduled in Mumbai. However, ticket scalping has become a major issue with tickets being resold for outrageous prices. To combat this, BookMyShow has now taken strong action against such scammers.
BookMyShow recently filed an FIR against resellers after tickets for Coldplay’s concerts sold out within minutes. Initially, tickets priced under ₹10,000 were resold for as much as ₹45,000—and in some cases, even more in lakhs. On October 2, 2024, the company lodged a formal complaint with Mumbai police to investigate these illegal sales. They provided 27 mobile numbers linked to the reselling activity, aiming to clamp down on this black market practice.
The company’s spokesperson said that ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law, stating that BookMyShow has no affiliation with resellers and is committed to ensuring fair ticket access for fans.
In response to these challenges, BookMyShow is also working on providing physical tickets for the Coldplay concerts to prevent unauthorized resales. They are assessing the cancellation of tickets that were sold unethically and have been monitoring reselling activity across social media and platforms like Viagogo and StubHub.
Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of events with India’s tickets selling out fast, many Coldplay fans have turned to Abu Dhabi as an alternative to catch the band live. Coldplay will be performing four shows in Abu Dhabi in January 2025, and Indian fans have flocked to the UAE due to similar ticket pricing and easier visa regulations. However, even in Abu Dhabi, ticket demand has been overwhelming with fans struggling to get their hands on tickets.
As Coldplay’s India tour approaches, fans hope more concert dates will be added to meet the huge demand.
