Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi recently criticized Kalki 2898 AD during the podcast with Samdish Bhatia, calling it the bad film he has seen lately and describing Prabhas’s portrayal is “like a Joker”. To which Warsi further questioned, “What have you made of it? Why do they do such things? I never understand.” Soon after, his comments sparked backlash from Rebel fans, leading to a wave of outrage on social media and comments on his posts. This incident also caught the attention of South Indian actors, including Sudheer Babu, who defended Prabhas, and now Nani has responded to Arshad Warsi’s ‘joker’ comment.
During a press conference for his upcoming film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, Nani was asked about the ongoing debate between South and North Indian cinema, particularly picking up the Arshad Warsi’s recent comments on Prabhas and his film. Producer Dil Raju remarked that South Indian cinema is topping charts as media noted and that opinions from others should not be a concern. He added, “Someone keeps talking about something. The whole world knows that South is at the top, so why should we care about what someone says?”
Nani then took a dig at Arshad Warsi’s ‘joker’ comment, stating, “The person you are talking about got more publicity from this incident than he has in his entire career.” He further noted, “You are glorifying an unimportant matter unnecessarily.” Dil Raju joined in with a light-hearted comment, saying, “Many throw stones at me, and I say ‘I have work, so stones are thrown at me.’ If they comment on Prabhas, they will get highlighted, right?”
Despite the debate over regional cinema, many believe that there should be no distinction between South and North Indian films, viewing all as part of ‘Indian cinema’. Still the South vs. North debate continues to dominate discussions, sparking numerous debates. This raises the question—There’s no room to share one’s opinions?
